The village is quiter than most ski resorts, as Turracher values peace and serenity over parties and nightlife. There are bars and lively restaurants, but compared to other resorts, this village is on the quieter side and attracts families with younger children. Cosy mountain huts are popular for socialising with some apres bars across the village.
The views are stunning and the nature really is at the heart of the village. The central lake is breathtaking and Europe's largest stone pine forest surrounds the resort.

The ski season begins in November and ends in May, being one of the longest ski seasons in Austria. The village holds a high altitude of 1736m ensuring that a lot of the properties have ski in, ski out access to the slopes.
The piste is family friendly with lot of blues and reds, but of course, does have some rather challenging black runs such as the mighty Direttissima run. In total there are 43km of piste to explore and 15 modern lifts increasing efficiency of travel. There is even a Pistenbutler service on the slopes offering drinks and snacks mid-ski!
One of the most unique aspects of skiing here, is that a lake taxi is a form of transport across the slopes. Skiers can get towed across the frozen Lake Turrachersee taking them to various ski points across the resort.

Summer in Turracher is as busy as it is in winter. The slopes may be closed, but the meadows open up offering a plethora of hiking trails, biking routes and classic summer sport activities. One of the most popular hikes is the Three Lakes Circular Trail, connecting Turrachsee, Schwarzsee and Grünsee.
Other activities include fishing, Almgolf and the famous Nockyflitzer ride, which is a toboggan taking you on thrilling adventures around the mountains. Swimming, paragliding, e-biking and rafting are popular in the summer as well as the Gem Museum showcasing stunning crystals and gems.
